Tribe-OS FAQ

Everything families ask about Tribe-OS — pricing, privacy, chores, bill splitting and the Nora AI assistant.

What is Tribe-OS?

Tribe-OS is a family operating system — one app where a household runs its shared calendar, chores, shopping lists and finances instead of juggling group chats, paper lists and separate apps. Every family gets a shared dashboard called the Hearth, plus individual profiles and roles so children see age-appropriate content while adults keep the full picture.

Is Tribe-OS free to use?

Yes. The Daily Family Engine plan is free forever and includes the shared timeline, chore tracking with reward points, smart shopping lists, expense tracking and sticky notes for up to 7 members. Tribe-OS Elite is $7.99/month (or $69.90/year) and Tribe-OS AI Premium is $14.99/month (or $140/year).

Does one subscription cover the whole family?

Yes. One subscription powers the whole tribe with no per-seat fees. When any member upgrades, every member of that family automatically unlocks the plan's features.

What does Nora, the AI family assistant, do?

Nora is included with Tribe-OS AI Premium. She detects bills from your email so due dates never slip, generates monthly household expense reports with savings suggestions, and helps you plan and understand the family calendar. You can also chat with Nora about what is happening in your tribe today.

Is my family's data private, and is it safe for children?

Yes. Every record is protected by row-level security, so your data is only visible to signed-in members of your own tribe — never to other families. Child profiles are parent-managed and store no personal contact details (no email, no phone), account creation is restricted to adults 18 and over, and Tribe-OS does not track anyone's location.

How do chores and reward points work?

An adult creates a chore, assigns it to a family member, sets a due date and how often it repeats, and attaches a point value. When the member marks it done it moves to pending review, and a parent approves it before points are awarded. Members can then request to redeem their points for rewards, which a parent approves or declines.

Can Tribe-OS split household bills between adults?

Yes. Any expense can be split equally or by custom amounts between the adults in the tribe, with a record of who fronted the payment. Outstanding balances are tracked until each share is marked settled, and reminders go out for unsettled splits.

Is there an iPhone or Android app?

Native iOS and Android apps are coming soon to the App Store and Google Play. In the meantime Tribe-OS works fully in your phone's mobile browser and can be added to your home screen, and everything syncs the moment the apps launch. Mobile app status.

How do I invite my family to Tribe-OS?

An admin creates a shareable invite link from the Family page and sends it to each member. When they open the link and sign in, they join your existing tribe and immediately see the same shared calendar, chores, lists and finances. Children can also be added as parent-managed profiles without any login.

Can I use Tribe-OS with an AI assistant like ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. Tribe-OS offers a secure connection for AI assistants that support MCP. You sign in and approve access, and the assistant can then read and manage only your own tribe's data — asking about this week's schedule or adding items to the shopping list, for example.

How do I cancel my subscription or delete my account?

You can manage or cancel your subscription any time from the Billing page — on mobile, through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting your account from within the app permanently removes your tribe's data.
